The She Cranes captain and Loughborough Lightning goal shooter, Peace Proscovia, has been named the first ambassador of the 2019 Netball World Cup.
Last season’s English Vitality League MVP, who extended her stay at Loughborough Lightning, was named as an ambassador for the event as the world marked International Women’s Day.
Proscovia, who will represent Uganda at next month’s Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia, is pleased with the appointment.
“I am very happy to be named as the ambassador for Netball World Cup 2019,” she was quoted by the official tournament website.
The World Cup will take place from July 12-21, 2019 at Liverpool’s Echo Arena in England.
The former UCU Lady Canons and Angels star played for Uganda Christian university between 2009 and 2013.
She won three Natinoal Basketball League titles in 2010, 2011, and 2013.
Proscovia was also part of the 2015 She Cranes netball team that took part in the World Cup and finished eighth overall.
Proscovia renewed her contract with her English-based club last season after an impressive performance throughout the season.
Proscovia managed to win 3 accolades at the 2017 Goalden Globe Awards following her glamorous season with Loughborough Lightening.
The Former NIC player won the Player of the season Award, Players’ Player of the Season and also named in the All Star Team as the best Goal Shooter (GS).
