Cardinals beat Western United to progress

First half goals from skipper Maureen Kinavudori, Phoebe Banura and Catherine Nakiridde were enough to ensure that the Lady Cardinals emerge victorious and also sealed a place in the league play-offs.

Despite conceding a second half goal, the team managed to beat Western United 3-1 on May 05, at the new pitch, Mukono.

The Lady Cardinals now have 23 points, with a game left to play.

In spite of being seven adrift of table leaders Kawempe Muslim SS, who already made it to the plays-offs, the UCU team now have two opportunities to win silver ware.

“We are focused and will continue to challenge,” Kinavudori said.

The Lady Cardinals play Uganda Martyrs while Kawempe Moslem Secondary School will tussle it out with Olira FC in the other play off game.

The dates and venues for these games are yet to be communicated.

The Lady Cardinals coach Tony Membe however remains confident that his side can challenge for  this year’s title.

“We shall fight hard,” Membe says.
