Bachelor of Development Studies (BDS) have defeated defending champions Bachelor of Laws (LLB) 1-0 to emerge the winners of this semester’s guild soccer tournament, held on March 25 at the new pitch.
An early goal by BDS sealed the victory against a better LLB side that dominated possession and created more chances throughout the match, but all in vain.
Ashley Agaba, the BDS team captain, says teamwork was the key to their success. Solomon Egwar, the LLB team manager, attributed too much confidence to their failure to retain the crown.
“We were over-confident and this let us down,” he said.
The champions received a trophy, a goat and gold medals from the Deputy Vice Chancellor Development and External Relations, Mr David Mugawe.
The LLB team received silver medals and third-place Bachelor of Civil Engineering won themselves bronze medals.
Allan David Emolot, a BDS student, was the tournament’s top scorer with five goals.
