The Doves have maintained a good run in the National Volleyball League after defeating Ndejje University by three straight sets to zero.
The game was played on June 21 in Ndejje, Luwero District, but the hosts failed to surpass the Doves.
“It was not an easy win despite the victory but we used the strategy of playing a fast game,” Samuel Engwau, one of the players reveals.
The Doves now sit third in the men’s series but next play KCCA.
Meanwhile the Lady Doves followed their male counterparts’ footsteps as they also fought a good battle to register victory. They beat Ndejje Ladies 3-2 after winning the first set but lost the second one.
The Lady Doves then bounced back taking the third set before losing the fourth.
However, team captain Dinah Akello says they almost lost the game in the fifth and decisive set.
“Confidence helped us a lot as we came down from 13-11 to win the decisive set though they played hard,” she says.
Coach Protus Soita’s side now brighten their hopes of making it to the playoffs despite having more games to play as they next face KCCA, MUST and Nkumba when the league games resume on June 24.
The league games currently hosted by UCU will be played at the university sports complex.
