Engwenyu is new Volleyball Federation General Secretary

Cornelius Engwenyu, the University Sports Coordinator has been elected the new General Secretary of Uganda Volleyball Federation (UVF).

Egwenyu was elected to the office for a four -year- term during the UVF annual general conference at the National Council of Sports board room on January 8. Engwenyu polled 94 votes, beating his only rival Hassan Sekajoolo with a Margin of 62 votes.

Others voted into office include the association president Hadijah Namanda; Ismail Bagaga as first vice-president; Patricia Ahumuza second vice-president and Adam Mugisha as  treasurer.

The electorates were delegates from clubs, schools and district association’s across the country.

Engwenyu told The Standard that his  main obligation in the new office will be to clear the image of the federation and work on tools of governance such as policies and procedures.

“ My other role will be signing the Federation’s legal documents together with the President,’’ he said.
