UCU Lady Canons once again blew the chance to stretch their series lead over KCCA Leopards in Game 4 of the Pepsi National Basketball League playoffs final on November, 30 at YMCA.
KCCA, who are four-time champions, were 2-0 down to a more inexperienced Lady Cardinals before levelling the game 2-2.
The Lady Cardinals took charge of the first quarter 21-15 with Sarah Ageno, Ritah Imanishimwe and Vilma Achieng steering their side.
Prior to Game 4 on Wednesday, KCCA coach Timothy Odeke wanted his side to defend better and he exactly got that as the Leopards beat Lady Canons 71-63 to level series.
KCCA returned strongly in the second quarter over shadowing the offensive duties to lead 40-37, at half-time.
The second half was about defence with KCCA taking away UCU’s transition as well as shutting out Judith Nansobya (pictured) and Imanishimwe.
Achieng had team high 12 points and 14 rebounds for UCU, Ageno added 11 points and 12 boards. Imanishimwe and Nansobya chipped in with 11 and 10 points respectively in a losing effort.
Moreen Amoding scored game high 15 points Martha Soigi added 13 points and picked 9 rebounds while Flavia Oketcho and Joy Chemtai contributed 12 and 10 points respectively.
This now leaves the series at 2-2 with 3 games left to play.
