Lady Cardinals, booked their place into this year’s final of the FUFA Women’s Cup slated to take place today (23rd June) in Bushenyi district.

In a repeat of last year’s semi finals, the Mukono ladies defeated defending champions Olila high school in a 2 -1 victory to earn their place in the final.

Last year, the UCU Cardinals lost 5-4 in penalties at the same stage after the teams drew 2-2 in normal time. However, this time round, the ladies’ determination and dominance through the whole game paid off as Skipper Maureen Kinavudori struck a brace to guide the Cardinals to their first final in this competition.

Norah Alupo pulled one back for Olila but only settled for a consolation as it was not enough to stop the on fire cardinals who aimed for a sweet revenge against their rivals.

Cardinal’s coach Tonny Membe, believes that his team has a high chance of winning this year’s trophy as they go head to head with the She Corporate come this Saturday.

“It was pain when we lost last year in the semi final. However, one of our main objectives is to win this trophy and because of the strong team we have built, the expectations are high.”
