Men’s soccer team blunders

The UCU men’s soccer team has lost their two- goal lead in the University Football League (UFL), as a result of the 2-all draw with Makerere University (MUK) on April 17, at the new pitch in Mukono.

Jerome Semambo opened the score for the home side ending the first half with the lead. Skipper Joshua Kigozi (below) then sent the MUK custodian the wrong way with an early second half penalty, giving his side a two-goal advantage.

However, MUK kept pressing on only for them to pull one back after defensive errors by the Cardinals.

MUK were then reduced to ten men after receiving a red card but this did not deter them from levelling the score after the UCU shot-stopper blundered by allowing a long cross slip out of his hands into the back of the net.

The two sides shared the spoils 2-2, and now have five points each.

The second leg resumes in September when UCU hosts Busitema.
