The rotaract club of Uganda Christian University (UCU) has organized the second edition of the Rotary Charity Run and Sports Gala, set to take place on September 30, at the Main Campus.
The Charity Run and Sports Gala is an annual fundraiser by the rotaract club of UCU, having held the inaugural event in September 2016. They were able to collect funds to provide scholastic materials for the children of Little Voices Africa Orphanage, Buwengye, Jinja.
“For this year’s charity run we hope to raise enough funds to cater for the second phase of the Cheese Project. Where playing items are to be purchased and a play ground rehabilitated for the same orphanage,” Joackim Mumbere, the Project Coordinator of Rotaract, told The Standard.
Different games have been lined up for the day including Basketball, Football, Bicycle race, sacks race, Netball, rugby among others.
According to Mumbere, several mentionable personalities ate expected to grace the function like Katumba Wamala, the Minister of State for Works, Johnson Muyanja Ssenyonga, the Mayor of Mukono Municipality, and the Rotary and Rotaract clubs from central region.
Tickets for the event are currently on sale for Shs10,000 at the Main Canteen, Touch of Class, and Hajji Abass supermarkets in Wandegaye and Buguju.
